GRCCC Awaits Information on Environmental Impacts of the Moorebank Intermodal Proposal

The Georges River Combined Councils’ Committee, Inc. (GRCCC) is eagerly awaiting on information from proponents of the Moorebank Intermodal Freight Terminal in order to more thoroughly understand the environmental impacts of the development on the Georges River.

The GRCCC has invited the proponents of the MIT to present to a committee meeting in the New Year to inform the GRCCC of this proposal. The GRCCC will also review the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) when issued. After reviewing the EIS the GRCCC will make a submission that includes recommendations to ensure environmental impacts from the proposal are minimised.

The GRCCC is an apolitical organisation whose mission is “to effectively advocate by developing programs and partnerships, and by lobbying government organisations and stakeholders to protect, conserve and enhance the Georges River. The GRCCC aims to promote the River and its values consistently across the catchment.”

Accordingly the GRCCC is keen to review an Environmental Impact Statement as soon as it becomes available in order to develop an informed stance on the issue.
