Get involved in a Bush Regeneration Project at Rockdale's Coolibah Reserve
Would you like to be involved in a new bush regeneration project at Coolibah Reserve? Rockdale City Council and the Sydney Metro CMA are removing the weeds at Coolibah reserve Bardwell Park, and will be replacing them with native vegetation. This will provide habitat, improve water quality and help to stop spread weeds in the catchment.
Rockdale City Council is running a training session for people who would like to be involved. Saturday 13th August, 9 am - 12.30pm at Coronation Hall, 23 Barden Street, Arncliffe (Cnr Stanley Street). This includes information about the weeds and the environment of Coolibah reserve and a tour to the Reserve (transport to and from the hall is provided). Light refreshments are included.

BHP Billiton Rethinks Longwall Mine Project
BHP Billiton has dropped plans to mine coal under the Dharawal State Conservation Area in the northern Illawarra, saying the company had listened to concerns from environmentalists and the community.

GRCCC Issues Concern over Longwall Mine proposal in Dharawal
As the planning minister decides whether to approve a 30-year proposal by BHP to extract coal from the Woronora and Cataract drinking water catchments, the Georges River Combined Councils’ Committee (GRCCC) has added its voice to a growing network of opposition.
