Upper Georges Governance Projects

Georges River Governance Project

Dr Greg Teal of the University of Western Sydney, Campbelltown has been undertaking research regarding the governance framework of the Georges River. He has completed a literature review and has begun interviewing community members and stakeholders regarding their experiences with management of the river, past and present. His findings will inform present and future directions for adaptive management of the Georges River system.

Strategic Environmental Management Plan

The Strategic Environmental Management Plan, or SEMP, is a guiding framework which will focus on the past, present and future of the Upper Georges River catchment, through the analysis of four key themes: Management, Land Use, Community Engagement and On-ground projects.

The SEMP will include findings from Dr Greg Teal’s literature review, and will produce an action plan to prescribe and prioritise a works program to guide future efforts focusing on sustainability of the river system.
